At the heart of every transformation is a story
One of resilience, hope, and the unyielding power of change. Tonier Cain has inspired countless individuals to embrace their own journeys of healing and self-discovery. Through her unwavering commitment to addressing trauma and her ability to connect deeply with others, Tonier’s impact resonates far beyond the stage. This page is a testament to the lives she’s touched, featuring heartfelt accounts from those who have experienced her message firsthand.

In my estimation, Tonier is the most inspirational and impactful mentor/leader in the field of trauma-informed care that we have in the US.
I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Tonier at the PESI Annual Trauma & Addictions Conference in 2024. Tonier and I engaged in a fireside chat where we were able to talk about her story, and discuss recommended changes for treatment programs and therapists to make to be the most trauma-informed we can be.
When we met, Tonier was professional but very kind and welcoming. I immediately felt respected and seen by her, and it was so easy to talk with her. She spoke about her life and past as something that’s made her strong and helped her understand her role in making the world a better place.
Something that stood out to me was Tonier’s ability to immediately connect with the audience. She was telling her story and informing them, but she made eye contact with them, explained her point of view, and answered all of their questions with grace and honesty. Tonier has a unique ability to make everyone feel like they can come as they are and be accepted. Tonier is an excellent spokesperson for the trauma-informed movement, and I felt honored to learn from her and speak with her.
“Neen,” I am the woman whose life you have changed. I do trauma work today because of you. I became a city councilwoman in St. Louis because of you. I now work for Congresswoman Cori Bush because of you. Thank you. Thank you for using your learned experience to change the lives of so many. Thank you so much for having the courage to be vulnerable and transparent.
I simply love you. ❤️

Dynamic speaker who delivered her testimony and inspired me to dig deeper for a true healing and forgiveness of others.
Tonier, so far our prison volunteers have been able to distribute “Healing Neen” to women in two different facilities in the State of Maine. Just last night, I sat in a circle of women in a local jail who spoke of how moved they were by your story, how much it mirrored some of their experiences, and how it has given them hope for a transformed future. Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Thank you for coming to the West Virginia Handle with Care Conference and sharing your amazing and powerful story! You are most definitely an inspiration!

RESILIENT – I didn’t really know the meaning of this word until today when I heard Tonier Cain share her story of deliverance from addiction, homelessness, and extreme trauma. She has demonstrated incredible resilience and now helps many others achieve their own freedom. So grateful for today’s special Resilient event and for all those who serve to help women like Tonier find their own deliverance through the love of God.

I had the pleasure of hearing you speak in Tacoma, WA, about 7 or 8 years ago. You were AMAZING!! I still think of some of the points you made that day…THANK YOU for sharing your story!
I had a chance to speak to you for a brief moment at the event in Martinsville this morning, there was so much I wanted to say to you but there just wasn’t enough of you to go around lol. This morning you touched my heart more than you’ll ever know and inspired me to dig down and really get some help getting passed the pain so I can be strong enough to help others, may not be to the degree that you do but if I can touch just one life with my story and experiences then I will be so grateful🤗
You give me hope. You are such an inspiration!!! I heard your story for the first time today— My heart is touched and my perspective about myself and my future has totally changed!

I heard her speak today. She made me cry, she made me laugh, she made me mad, and she made me want to be better, all in less than 2 hours. God is using her for His glory.
Ms. Cain is a phenomenal and genuine sweetheart! Blessed Woman of GOD and highly favored and chosen of GOD! GBU Sister, upon every great work that you’ve done and continue to do to helping and empowering others! We Love Ya Sis!
Thank you, Tonier “Neen” Cain for sharing your inspiring message at the 2024 Kansas Opioid and Stimulant Conference! Your passion to assist those in their recovery journey makes a significant impact and is truly appreciated!
Her compelling life story of resilience and recovery from life’s battles are encouraging and will challenge others in situations that are seemingly impossible to have hope and believe that change is possible.
Ms. Cain’s speech for the 18th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect’s YouTube video really helped me. That particular speech touched me. She talked about how trauma, neglect, abuse, addiction, and homelessness are all interconnected and lead from one to another. She talked about retraumatization, what recovery and rehabilitation is like, what brushing her teeth represented, what a support system meant, what a belief system meant, how society’s systems hurt people like me and makes it harder to get out of homelessness, and it kicks us while we are already down.
She talked about things that people around affected individuals wouldn’t understand. And though there are individuals who may understand it, not a lot of them have the will to talk about it. But Ms. Tonier Cain did, and she still does. She talks about what no one else is willing to say it because she’s experienced it.
The way Ms. Tonier Cain expresses and communicates, and articulated the pain and the understanding of it all really touches me and left an impact on me, and it stays with me. It resonated with me because when I go back to listen to it, to watch it, and I feel understood while undergoing through hardship and adversity for such a long time. I don’t feel like I am judged or crazy. Listening to it still does help me a lot. Knowing that I am not alone.
One of the most amazing humans God has ever made.
Ms. Cain was our Keynote speaker at our IJJA – Idaho Juvenile Justice Conference on 9/11/17. The room is full of Adult and Juvenile Probation Officers and treatment providers, and she was very riveting. We LOVED seeing someone who had so many low points in her life come so far to where she is telling her story to Probation Officers to help us see how ANYONE can change their life and to not give up on someone who wants help and has struggled along the way. She received a full room standing ovation because she really does inspire us to try just a little bit harder sometimes. I am very much looking forward to reading her book to learn more. Her humor and forgiveness are infectious. Thank you, Ms. Cain ♡
Inspirational speaker and so excited about what she’s doing.
Tonier Cain is why we need to continue to administer justice with compassion and an eye toward helping people turn their lives around.
Awesome motivational and inspirational story.
This amazing, fearless woman of God is a real-life changer. Her story has caused me to want to follow in her footsteps in advocacy, education, and support for those who suffer from mental health issues and are pushed aside. Tonier, don’t you ever stop following God and His plan. Continue on and just know that your labor is not in vain.
Tonier Cain thank you for sharing your story! Your presentation was wonderful as always.
Inspirational speaker! Thanks for sharing your story. Great way to kick off FFTA!
Thank you for sharing your story. You touched many lives today! I had to leave the conference early as I had an appointment with a patient. As I met with her and completed her assessment, I put my pen down and asked her, “What happened to you?”…she looked down, and when she looked up, her eyes were filled with tears she said, “No one has ever asked me that question before.” Thank you for the reminder of the importance for us to slow down and really listen, really provide safe space for those we serve. ❤
Today I was privileged to attend the Texoma Community Behavioral Health Conference with Tonier Cain as the keynote speaker. Her story was humbling, and her tenacity inspiring! I have a much better understanding of #traumainformedcare. My mind was absolutely blown away.
She was so awesome. What a tenacious individual doing remarkable things with experiences that some might say would inhibit themselves from accomplishing anything at all.
Tonier, we watched your video “Healing Neen” in our Psych 285 class at Brookdale Community College in NJ. Powerful! Our Professor saw you in person. She said you were riveting! You have changed each of our lives! Thank you for being such a blessing and honestly for showing the world what the real act of forgiveness means!
I heard her at my school this year at NCI, Martinsville, VA. She’s touched my heart because I know some of her pain. I truly recommend anyone who’s hurting to hear her story. There is hope and His name is Jesus. Love the wonderful outcome of your ashes to beauty.
