The goal is to increase understanding about the importance of designing individualized treatment plans for consumers. During the presentation, the components of a trauma informed care program are shared. It explains how the components can be used to understand the impact of trauma on individuals. This understanding is needed to prevent doing more harm.

- Providing trauma informed peer support services for day to day life
Tools for Health Living
Most people stick with what’s familiar because we’re conditioned by our environments. Many trauma survivors live in survival mode. They revert to old ways or bad habits to get by. Our life coaching can help them develop tools to make healthier decisions. We use Tonier’s “Relationship after Trauma” book as a guide, when working with families and community members.
Secure Attachment Parenting
Traditional parenting classes don’t teach people how to develop a secure attachment between parent and child. Many of the parents on our caseloads, and in our programs, have only been taught how to hold their baby’s head and change a diaper. Parents that have been traumatized can be helped by our secure attachment group. We work with them to see how their personal trauma influences how they make decision for their children. Understanding their need to follow their child’s lead, and mask their emotions, is addressed in this training. The sessions progress to create a safe environment for the child(ren) to keep them feeling supported and cared for, while making sure they have a secure attachment. We accomplish this through group settings, videos and pictures of different phases.
We Can Achieve for Underserved Youth
This community based program is geared to stand in the gap for at risk youth. We work with youth both in and out of school. Our core components are:
- Life Skills
- Conflict mitigation
- Conflict resolution
- Social skills
- Career development
- Coaching
- Workforce development
TCI Certified Training
Upon completion of training, participants will become TCI certified. In addition to our training classes listed below, we offer TCI certified individuals the opportunity to become trained facilitators.

Trauma Informed Peer Leadership Training
A training designed to equip individuals in leadership positions with tools to educate their peers on how to provide trauma informed services. This training compares traditional human service settings and practices with those that are trauma-informed. It looks at the prevalent rate of trauma histories among persons served in different mental health and human service setting. This training is to help leaders develop safety plans that look at triggers, warning signs and coping strategies, as a means of preventing situations that can lead to the use of re-traumatizing tactics.
The goal of this training is to equip peers with tools to help them lead other survivors, consumers and families towards a healthy lifestyle. The value of one peer helping another has been proven to be beneficial, beyond anything we could imagine. Being able to relate with peers creates a sense of I am safe. We train peers to help others while continuing to help themselves.

Staff Matters Too (Heal the Healers)
We understand it’s impossible to leave your life at the door when you come to work. We also understand that being a service provider doesn’t exempt you from experiencing trauma. This is a training specifically for human services workers to address their needs. This training is to help them heal, while healing others. It will also help them understand their personal experience of trauma, while working to promote healing and self-care. These are the key components of this training.
Note: The RICH Approach should be taken before this training.
Law Enforcement Training
Law enforcement officers including probation/parole, security and bounty hunters, will be better able to facilitate interactions with persons they engage if he/she has an understanding of trauma and the impact it has on the human psyche. Officers can shift from “what is wrong with you?” to “what has happened to you?” A key benefit of this approach is that it builds trust and improves relationships within the community.
