Neen Cares Trauma House
The Neen Cares Trauma House program offers a safe, stable, and trauma-informed residential facility for women who have faced prolonged and recurrent traumatic experiences, including struggles with substance abuse, incarceration, mental health challenges, and homelessness.
The vision of this program is to provide opportunities for our “partners”—individuals recently released from incarceration, substance abuse treatment, or halfway houses—to address the trauma they may have experienced, sometimes starting as early as childhood. With the successful completion of the program, the goal is for these women to gain the tools needed to become the productive, empowered citizens they were created to be, allowing them to move forward and live healthy, fulfilling lives.
Research has demonstrated the deep connection between traumatic experiences and their impact on mental health, decision-making, and criminal behavior. Juanita’s House will provide a safe and supportive space for our partners to develop self-awareness and heal holistically from trauma. Participants will engage in ongoing counseling, both in group and individual settings, led by licensed trauma-informed therapists. Each partner will also be matched with a case manager who is well-versed in community resources to assist during the program and provide aftercare support.
Understanding that each person’s journey is unique, we tailor counseling, case management, and life skills classes to meet each partner’s needs. From the beginning of their journey, we address areas such as housing, education, and employment. These plans will be adjusted as needed to ensure personalized support. All professionals involved in the program are trained in trauma-informed care and have met the necessary standards to be part of the Neen Cares team.
Through this program, we aim to reduce recidivism, promote social equity, and provide trauma survivors with the resources they need for empowerment and resilience. By offering trauma recovery tools, opportunities for healing, and restorative justice practices, the Neen Cares Trauma House helps participants build a future grounded in generational empowerment and workforce development.
Life Support Resource Center
In response to the needs of community residents to live healthier, more successful lives, we will train all staff and community partners on the RICH approach. Once participants are TCI certified, we will assist in the following areas:
- Helping residents address community violence, drug addiction, domestic violence, human trafficking, and mental health challenges.
- Supporting re-entry into the community from incarceration or residential programs.
- Providing comprehensive care management and advocacy, which includes assessments to determine service needs, developing an individualized integrated care plan, referrals, and related activities to help residents obtain necessary services, along with monitoring, follow-up, and evaluation.
- Offering trauma-informed peer support services to assist with day-to-day life.
Our approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, focusing on healing and recovery. We incorporate trauma-informed practices and foster resilience, empowering survivors to rebuild their lives. Through trauma-informed training and leadership, we ensure our team is equipped with the tools to support residents effectively. Additionally, we provide access to trauma support services, including resources like the Healing Neen documentary and trauma recovery books, while striving to build trauma-informed communities that support lasting healing.

Tools for Healthy Living
Many people adhere to what is familiar because our environments condition us. Many trauma survivors live…
Many people stick with what’s familiar because our environments condition us. Many trauma survivors live in survival mode, reverting to old ways or bad habits to get by. Our life coaching can help them develop tools to make healthier decisions. We use Tonier’s Relationship after Trauma book as a guide when working with families and community members.
Peer Support
We offer a safe environment for those who have yet to find their voice. Our Peer-to-Peer Program provides opportunities for individuals to acquire knowledge, share experiences, and find hope. This unique program fosters emotional, social, and practical support through group and individual sessions.
By embracing social equity, we ensure every individual in at-risk communities has access to the resources they need to thrive. The program also promotes workplace diversity by supporting a variety of perspectives, helping individuals grow personally and professionally, and contributing to a more inclusive and compassionate community.
Neen Cares Youth Sports and Community Outreach Services
We host a variety of annual events that benefit children and families through ongoing and expanding community engagement. We offer more activities each year, including basketball camps and football clinics for youth, toy drives, and Thanksgiving services for the community. These initiatives foster healing, support trauma survivors, and strengthen the community.
Our community outreach for trauma survivors includes trauma recovery programs that help individuals heal and build resilience. By integrating trauma-informed healing practices, we aim to create a supportive environment where families can thrive and overcome barriers to success.
